The Blind Side

As always, every weekend we always have our lazy time together. We stay at home and watch movies. Last weekend, before the 82nd Oscars, my husband and I decided to watch The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock. My husband said it's just another American football movie that I would like to watch. Similar in a way to Remember the Titans or Any Given Sunday and many others that I just can't remember.

Honestly, I am not going to review the film. I suck at it. Well, that is what my husband told me anyway. I admit it though. Instead of summarising the movie, I'll re-tell the whole story! Anyway, what I want to write today is about the moral of the story itself.

Overall, I like Sandra Bullock in that movie. She's different this time. More elegent and not clumsy as in her other roles. After watching the movie, I had a talk with my husband. I told my husband how good it is to know that in this world, there is still a nice family well specifcally, a woman like Leigh Anne Tuohy who decided to help someone and change their life for the better.

Leigh Ann comes from an upper class rich family and is surrounded with all these other rich people. Somewhere in her heart (and out of no where), she choose to help a homeless black teenager (Michael Oher) who goes to the same school as her kids.

To cut a long story short, she eventually decides to adopt him with support of the rest of the Tuohy family of course. And as a family, they help Michael fulfill his potential, both on and off the football field. At the end he succees to change his fortunes and becomes a really better person.

I know there are lots of Hollywood celebrities nowadays who do the same thing. But heck yes. They are rich. I mean, really, really rich. Millions of cash in the bank account and can hire 10 nannies for each kid they adopt. But not Leigh Anne. Yup, she's rich too. But she's just another normal person like any of us with the added advantage that she has some extra money to burn.

But the question is, are we going to do the same thing if we have that kind of money? Are we going to just say hello and invite any homeless kid to our house and make them part of our family?

I would love too. But I don't think I'll be able to do the same thing Leigh Anne did. She just touched my heart and made me teary. It made me think, how nice she was and if everyone had the same heart like her, there would just be no bad people out there.

I just don't know how to dramatise my summary of the movie, just try and watch the movie. I hope you'll love it too.

Well done Leigh Anne and the Tuohy family. And what I didn't know previously, I found out early Monday morning when my husband told me. Sandra had won the Best Actress award in the 82nd Oscars for he role in that movie. Wow! She definitely deserves it. She did an amazing job!
