Could You Survive a Tiger Attack?

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of being invited to a birthday party which was held at Dublin Zoo. A party at the zoo was definitely something different for us and I do think that it's a brilliant idea - lots of space for the kids to run around and extremely educational too (even for the adults!).

As we were part of a group, our tour/party host brought us to see a not too often seen tiger feeding session. It's kinda scary now when I think that the only thing that separated us from the tigers was a wall of glass...

Pretty cool isn't it? It also made me wonder whether I'd be able to survive if I was lost in a jungle and I just happen to come a cross a very hungry tiger? Climbing a tree is not an option then isn't it? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

Well, we had so much fun and my friend (the host) made all the food and goodies for the party herself. She's so multi-talented.

Happy Birthday Neelakshi and thank for inviting us. We hope you'll have many happy birthdays to come.

Busy week

It's been a while, I know. I had such a busy week starting with preparing for my son's first birthday party, attending other people's birthday party, my own son's birthday party, cleaning up the mess after that, my husband's friend coming over and my sister's hectic last week here.

Pheww.....

A few days before the party, Hisham wasn't feeling so well and the climax was the night before the party itself when I was starting to prepare the ingredients for the food as well as marinating the chicken for BBQing. He just didn't stop crying and wouldn't let me out of his sights.

Eventually, around midnight he finally settled down and I got the chance to re-start all the work. Luckily, I had my three Santa's little helpers to help me around the kitchen, decorating the house and cleaning-up stuff. A big relief and millions of thanks to them.

Adik-adik ku Nanie, Janna and Atiqah jasa mu dikenang hingga ke akhir hayat!

Lelong-lelong: Adik-adik manis untuk dijual! Tenkiu for your help!!!

 My Hero

It was supposed to be a nice summer day that bank holiday weekend. To tell you the truth, since both my kids were born in winter I've always longed for a nice summer garden birthday party. So, when I realised that my third child's EDD will be around the summer, I was so delighted and had told everyone that I was definitely going to have a nice BBQ for the yet to be born child's first birthday party.

Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side. We'd waited until the afternoon hoping that the rain would stop but there was just no sign that the rain would go away. My husband was still determined to go ahead with it, under a big umbrella in the rain. Well, two thumbs up for my better half. You did a great job. Our neighbours might think that we're lunatics to do that but in the end I could see that everyone enjoyed every bit of it. Well worth it.

Home-made

As Hisham did not have enough sleep the night before, on the day itself he slept most of the time. At around 4.30 he woke up and we had the cake-cutting session and an incident happened - the ceiling lamp fell off just as we were about to sing the Birthday Song!

Happening sangat, sampai runtuh rumah.

My, oh my. What a day. Whatever it is, I can safely say that it was really a success despite lots of unplanned things happening. To all that came to the party, thank you for coming that day and thank you all for the lovely gifts. Sorry for the delay or anything that was uncomfortable during the day.

Birthday boy the morning after

As the birthday boy was so tired that day, we only managed to open all the pressies first thing the next morning. He was so delighted and happy with all the gifts he received as I can surely say this is the first time that he's received real toys for himself. Thanks again!

PS: It's been almost a week after all that but there's still loads of cleaning up to do. Arghhhh...!!!

Happy Birthday to my Other Half

I wanted to post this entry on the day it self, but due to an internet disruption I couldn't even log on. It was my hubby's birthday last weekend. We didn't have a big celebration or anything as we're still in a recession. But as usual, I'd bake a cake for him and this time he chose to have Blueberry cake.

While he went to send Ameera to her gymnastic class, I quickly decorated his cake that I made the night before for his surprise. I only had around 45 minutes to clear up the kitchen and at the same time finish his cake.

It's just a simple one, well it's the thought that counts, isn't it?

So to my beloved husband, you know I am not good to write you any nice poem or say any romantic things but you know I love you so much and will always do. Enjoy this especially from us!

Nadeen's Birthday!!!

Yesterday was Husayn's best friend's 3rd birthday. I can safely say she is his best friend because since Husayn was small up to now, they've been each other's only play mates. When I used to go to work, I would leave him over at Nadeen's house, where they were given very good care by Kakak Ija. He loves them both SO much and I think of them as part of my own family.

The sad part is, they plan to go home for good to Malaysia really soon. So, I guess he'll miss her a LOT. You guys will be missed!! Even now, every single day Husayn keeps asking me to bring him to Nadeen's house to play as if he knows that time is running out with his best friend. Knowing me, I am just too lazy to go out if there is no special occassion or things to do. Maybe, if they were my next door neighbour of course, I'll pop over anytime.

Anyway, on one occasion before we went to her house I was looking at a girl's picture on my laptop and I asked him...

Mummy: Husayn, is that girl cute?

Husayn: Emmm...yeah...

Mummy: Is she your girlfriend?

Husayn: No.

Mummy: Why?

Husayn: Because Nadeen's my girlfriend!!!

Mummy: Smiling (in my mind.. boy oh boy...)

Well, back to the party itself. Her mommy invited us to Nadeen's Green-themed Tinker Bell party. Apart from the present for Nadeen, I decided to do her mommy a favour by baking green cinnamon rolls for the party. This time, I tried to use a Brioche recipe by Artisan Bread in Five instead. It doesn't involve using an electrical mixer and it's easy too. Oh yeah..I put green colouring to adapt the party's theme. And, pink icing too...OMG!!!

But my husband still prefers the cinnamon rolls I made using the receipe from Amber's blog.

New Gadgets and Surprise Advanced Birthday Cake for Me!!!

Hey ya... it's not 20th January yet but on Sunday morning, my beloved hubby who said he wanted to go to the gym brought home a supper delicious Chocolate Birthday cake for me instead. My hubby doesn't really do this kind of renyah-renyah thing.

Birthdays, Mother's Days, etc. is just another day to him. Before the big day, he usually gives me what he bought for my birthday but it's never been a cake. Sad is not the word but sometimes I just need something more. Hehehe....I am not a very demanding person. I don't need ean expensive gift or anything big but the thought of excitement to celebrate my birthday, kids birthday or mother's day, maybe.

But today, is just different. When he came back I was just lost for words. Honestly, it was a really big effort for him to do it. He had to order the cake a few days beforehand, plan the weekend so we would all be at home (just us) and getting the cake from the bakery shop in the city centre (a halal Muslim bakery shop) early in the morning. All without me getting suspicious!

Two thumbs up for him. I was really surprised, so happy and touched for what he did for me. Maybe it's nothing for all the other wives out there, but not for me.The cake was enormous, gigantic, huge!!! I loved it. It's just a cake but I'm delighted. Thank you Yang. I love you even more each and everyday and hope you will feel the same too. May Allah protect us as a family.

Nevertheless, yesterday for the first weekend of the year, we also managed to go out to town after the horrible weather for the past few weeks. I got my new pair of jeans (birthday gift from hubby, thank u Yang) shortened and we went browsing around Arnotts. Not to the clothes section or any fancy accessories shop though. We went straight to the kitchen and electrics area.

I think if you cook at home everyday, there's no harm to buy something for the kitchen that compliments yourself (even if we are in a recession). Voila! I found these and again my hubby bought these for me too, as a gift. Thanks again. Triple thanks Yang. Muaahhhh...!

Pakde Going Home for good

My brother aka as Ayeh or Pakde (as called by my kids) is going home for good today. He has been here for more than 2 years to gain some experience in life and work. I hope so.... so before he went home I made him a surprise farewell party and invited his frens.. well actually Putra Venture frens... coz I don't really know his fren that well.. and today we're off to the airport to send him... As always my Ameera 'the drama queen' cried and cried... I am not the crying type of person.. but to see my kids crying just breaks my heart... sometime I just hate to say good bye to people coz once my kids get along with them they won't like the idea of saying good bye... To my brother Good Luck in whatever u do.. hope from the experience u gain here will make u a better person and change ur life....
