Forgetful Mummy

Compared to my relationship with my other two kids, with Hisham, I always forget and constantly mix up his age and date of birth. Last month, I was pretty sure and had been telling everyone that he is 2 and a half years old already. I even told my husband that it was about time for me to stop breasfeeding him. If my memory serves me well, the Prophet SAW also stopped at that age so, I suppose there's no better time.

Hmmm, I'm still struggling to do it (to fully stop breasfeeding Hisham) and got all frustrated but over the last few days I just realised that he's only 2 and a half today. I've always thought that he's a big boy but masks his real age with his cheeky baby face and petit baby figure. He still breastfeeds. Seriously, the milk is he's life, energy as well as nutrition and it comes exclusively from me. He refuses to eat or drink anything else. Emmm.. OK to fair on him, for the past week he has started to eat small bowls of cereal with milk but that's it. He doesn't want to eat any meat or poultry or any other solid food. He would eat only 3-5 spoonfuls of plain rice or pasta. Oh, and he want to do it all by himself without any help.

He still speaks in his baby language unlike his brother who could speak fluent English at only 1+ year, full sentences, correct past/present tense and all. But yes, I do understand most of what Hisham says so that's OK.

Despite all that, he is one healthy baby, cheerful and a clever boy. As much as I want him to be independant like his brother and sister, I know I will miss all the moments that  spend with him so much i.e. waking up at night to breastfeed him, cuddling and hugging him, and doing all that I'm doing with him now.

Happy TWO and a HALF years old Hisham. You will always be my baby. Muaahhhhh!

A Month of Change

It's been 2 and a half years already but he still looks like a baby. With his petit size, his pelat speech and constant cries to be breastfed, people definitely think he's barely 1 year old when they see him. Other than the breastfeeding, he only takes one tiny pot of fromage frais and little bit of plain pasta per day, he refuses to eat anything else. Not surprisingly, as the milk he gets also doubles as a source of food and liquid, he doesn't drink any other form of liquid.

To be honest, I'm a bit worried but thankfully, he is one active baby (ahem...sorry - I get confused myself sometimes) little boy.

When he does something bold, it's just so hard to be mad at him. The way he acts, he looks like he doesn't understand a thing but the truth is, he's a big boy now and understands full well when he's done something he's not supposed to do. He can sing, is extremely good at using an iPhone and iPad (as is the norm with most kids these days), can identify lots of different things and he can even differentiate most colours. The most important thing is he can make cheeky face and your heart will melt away. I know I've said it repeatedly at this stage but, I constantly find it hard to think that he's going to be 3 soon.

Oh dear, I really hope this baby-ish thing will be over soon. If it doesn't, I'll be in big trouble as I'd be too soft and let him get away with everything under the sky. Help!

Let Abang Help You

They hit, they fight, they even hurt each other but deep inside the love is still there. If one is not around, he will be missed. I always smile when I look at them.

Here's one example.

While I was having some breakfast one morning, I made sure that the two boys were within earshot. I could hear that Husayn was trying his best to put on Hisham's shoes but being the stubborn little brother that he is, Hisham refused any help from others especially his big bro...

Typical brotherly love, eh? Whatever it is, I just know that they'd always love each other and their sister. Well, I certainly hope so.

Happy Birthday Hisham

Two years ago, as soon as I had finished my Subuh prayers, I went into labour and not long after that, a healthy baby boy was born into this world and as planned, we named him Hisham.

How time flies...without much notice, all my little babies had grown up and as a mother, I'm sure all mothers  out there would agree and would be very pleased to see their kids grow up to be Anak yang Soleh and Solehah, InsyaAllah.

What I can say is Hisham is more or less the same as his brother and sister. Actually, he's a combination of them both in both looks and character but at the same time, he's very unique in his very own special way. The obvious key difference being, even though he is already 2 today, I still feel as if he is still a little baby. Oh well, I suppose that feeling will never change whether he is 2 or 20! Maybe, I'll be kissing and hugging him a lot less when he becomes a big, hairy teenager and when he's in front of his friends but, he'll still always be MY baby...

Happy Birthday Darling. Mummy, Daddy, Tatak Rara and Baba Nayn always loves you. Muuuuaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Oh... and Happy Anniversary to my beloved Mama and Ayah.May happiness be yours forever, InsyaAllah. We always love you too.

I want to eat by myself!

Continuing on with what I am now calling "Hisham Week", here's more about my little boy.

He's nearly two and he still doesn't eat as much as other kids his age. He just relies on my breast milk as his main source of nutrition. If I'm lucky, he sometimes finishes a little pot of petite filous or maybe even a piece of cookie. Barely.

So, it's no surprise that whenever he asks for food I'll be so happy that he even bothered to ask in the first place, I'll let him eat his desired food, his way. Take this for example...

How much do you think actually got into his mouth???

Hisham's Lullaby

At the moment, this little guy is absolutely obsessed with Justin Bieber. Every time he wakes up or goes to bed, he'll ask to watch a Justin Bieber video.

Not wanting him to be hooked too much to video (Bieber or no Bieber), Hisham was given his very own special lullaby...

PS: The picture above was long after he got his lullaby. As we eventually found out, that particular song isn't actually the best lullaby. Hmpppphhh....

My Teddy!

As soon as I finished my prayers for the evening, Little Hisham came to me carrying an old brown teddy bear.  It's been a long time since I'd last seen it. It's not just any normal teddy bear. It was my first ever teddy (and gift/present) from my then boyfriend (now dearest hubby) when we started going out all those years ago.

Altogether now...awwww! Hehehe, I had almost forgotten about it until my daughter dug it out of her toy chest while looking for something in her room. Without any hesitation Hisham grabbed the old soft toy and loudly proclaimed that it was His now.

After almost 15 years maybe I should hand it over to someone else? Who better than my own son? What say you Mr. Hubby? Hehehe...I don't think so.

Mummy's Little Helper

As most of you know, this is Hisham. He's going to be 2 soon, and he is such an independent boy. Well, constant requests for my milk aside, of course (urrgghh). Remember when I wrote about Hisham preparing his own bath? He just loves to do everything himself and help me around the house. OK, maybe it normally ends up the other way around but still, I know that all he's trying to do is help. It's the thought that counts, right?

He loves playing helping with the broom. He can normally be seen in the kitchen trying to sweep whatever he can. He also vry helpful with the clothes - folding all the clothes when I'm just about to start my own routine.

Added to his already long list of chores, while I was busy washing the dishes this morning, I caught him "helping" out again...

The laundry wasn't even dry yet! Well, I know he was just trying to help. Hehehe...

Good Boy. When you're all grown up and can do your own thing, don't forget to help Mummy with the same things that you're doing here,OK?

Oucchhh... I Think It Hurts

Last night, as with most nights, I was in the bathroom to give my kids a shower before they go to bed. While washing a very active Hisham in the shower cubicle, he suddenly fell and obviously hurt himself. There was blood coming out of his mouth non-stop. Within a few seconds there was blood all over his chest and tummy.

I panicked but kept it together just enough to ask Ameera to call her Daddy who was downstairs. A few minutes later, after I had calmed down a bit, I cleaned the blood and put him on the bed when I realised there was really deep cut on his chin.

Oh my God! I reverted back into panic mode. My two other kids must have sensed my feelings and cried when they saw me. In a way, it was kind of funny, no actually...errr...it was sweet to see my kids crying over their little brother because they thought that something really bad had happend to him. Seriously though, I was all over the place when I saw all the blood and cut. To tell you the truth, I am not as bad as my Dad or my siblings. They can't even stand the sight of blood...ahaks. OK, maybe it runs in the family...heheheh.

My husband calmed me down and he said it was nothing to be too worried about as it was just a small cut but I didn't think so.

Since we had to leave the house anyway as we didn't have any bandages or plasters left in the house, I insisted that we consulted with our good friends, Mr. and Mrs. Tasya. Based on our description of the cut and the pics above (no, we weren't thinking of a blog entry when taking the pics!) they suggested that we bought ourselves a pack of Steri-Strips on our way to their place to give Hisham some much needed special medical attention. Oh goodness, a big Thank You to you guys for your help. We owe you big time, as always.

My poor baby. I think he was in a bit of shock since his fall as he has been quite quiet. I hope he'll be fine soon.

Seemingly, chin injuries are inevitable as it runs in the family. One of my younger brothers has one and so do two of my SILs as confirmed by my FIL.

The Tantrums You Never See

He can be very cute...

He can be very adorable...

Who would think that these two little angelic boys would have such horrible tantrums?

This is one that wasn't that bad. It was just over an ice-cream cone actually.

Ben 10 goes Bad...ahaks!

And this little fella is even worse. He wanted an ice-cream as well but learning from his big brother's unsuccessful attempt, he decided to take it up a notch. Hahaha!

A year and a half already?

Time flies so fast. Yesterday, Hisham was exactly 18 months. Another half of a year and he will be TWO! Wow. To me, it seemed like just yesterday that I went home to Malaysia, straight after my confinement period. And then, within what felt like a very short time, Hisham started to walk and was beginning to respond to me. But, the truth is he still looks like a little baby. He's still small and petite but acts like a big boy. He's fond of making cheeky-looking faces when he's done something wrong.

Despite being a year and a half, he still only has 4 teeth and that's it, for the moment. His appetite is the same as his big brother who is two and half years older than him. Although he loves pasta and chocolate so much, he still refuses to drink from a bottle. To be honest, I don't really mind breastfeeding him all the time but I just feel that he doesn't get enough fluids into his body.

Apart from talking a lot (he gets this from his 2 other siblings, of course), he's also fond of copying what other people say. This Daddy's Little Boy is such a sweetheart and being such a friendly little boy, he is always eager to attract other people's attention to him.

My sincerest apologies but I just can't stop writing about him even if I wanted to. Yes, I do realise that I might come across like I'm constantly bragging about him but, I guess which mother could stop talking about their own kids??? You should see him yourself and you will know his true colours. Hehehe.

Happy 18 Months Baby.....Muuaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Bending a bamboo while it's still a shoot

Have you heard of that proverb? Or in Malay, kalau melentur buluh biarlah dari rebungnya.

Aha... With that in mind, I constantly try to teach my kids to do everything themselves from a very young age. And I mean very young. As an example, here's Hisham preparing to take a shower. Well, sort of.

Hahahah...Please don't report me to the authorities! Matilah I... Hehehe...

Happy face

Well to tell you the truth, I just found it funny that every time I want to give him a bath, he will go straight to the toilet and get his tub and put it under the shower himself. He has clearly been observing what I've been doing all this while. The good thing is he's just so happy to do it by himself.

Hey, I'm not that bad. My 7 year old daughter does take a shower and gets ready by herself, every day. And I just have to convince (or let's say fight) her every time I want to comb her long hair.

He's still A Baby!!

I remembered that it was a month ago when I thought Hisham was 15 months but for some reason, I was confused as it was not until the 25th day of the month.

I think I have it right this time around. Here goes: It has been exactly a month since Hisham's first tooth came out. And until today it's still just a TOOTH. Nothing more. No teeth. Just tooth. As I've mentioned in my previous entry it's just a sedapkan hati tooth so Mummy won't be too worried.

However, apart from that, he is growing steadily. He talks so much, copies what ever other people say and is beginning to get cheekier and naughtier by the day. But, he's still a baby and a funny little fellow.

If I'm not mistaken, in Ireland we will be celebrating Eid/Hari Raya this Thursday. Maybe. Mmmmm... I still have plenty to do. My house looks so much like a Tongkang Pecah unlike in Malaysia where I think most people would have started packing or better still, started their balik kampung holidays already. So, drive carefully and a safe journey to you guys out there.
